The restaurant are doing word play to try and justify their behaviour. A gay couple has the exact same right to attend a date night. The mere fact that they want to host a gay night separately is blatant discrimination. To claim that you are catering for heterosexual couples are the most interesting concept….do they eat differently, alternative menu, different decor? Do you want to put people who have had a lifelong struggle to make peace with being gay or lesbian and then eventually get out of the closet BACK INTO the closet for the sake of your ‘straight’ customers. That is by no means fair – it is discrimination and against the South African constitution. This restaurant should be taken to trial by the constitutional court.
