I know that this is an old article. I am a bit cynical. I doubt that the item that the school calls a kilt is something that a boy would be willing to wear. It is most certainly not the equivalent of a Scottish kilt.
It was designed using lightweight fabric for young females and may look sort of like a kilt.

There could be boys willing to occasionally wear a kilt, if they were offered a true “kilt” that looked like the males garment with the kilt belt and sporran.

I hate the PC term “cultural appropriation”. All of these schools that are incorporating what is a male garment into the wardrobe for young females are bastardizing a Scottish National Dress. Dont call it a kilt unless you are going to offer a real option to the males. Otherwise, the schools are denigrating a national icon of someone elses heritage.
