It is very confusing to get a representative for 'Southern' Africa. We should be proud as South Africans to have a South African representative at the Mr Gay World contest. South Africa has one of the most progressive constitutions in the world - why include gay people of other countries in the southern part of Africa while they cannot represent their countries as they do not have the same rights as the rest of their populations? The representative should be representing a country, not a region!

I also do not agree that colour should be of any issue here...I remember that Paul Phume & Sam Phororo became Mr South Africa in the 1990's already! They were chosen on merit! The problem therefore should rather be to market the competition in areas and media where entrants could be attracted that will represent the diversity of the population - not by a changing a name of a competition - please!

All previous winners were chosen on merit...I rest my case.
