But if the data supports these statements is it not important for the message to get out there? If indeed the main spread is within our community it is important that we are armed with the knowledge in order to make decisions to protect ourselves.
Of course the phrasing of the message is important and assigning blame and discriminating should not be tolerated but we cannot decry simple statements of fact as homophobic and censoring discussion around it if the data is there. That is counter-productive and does nothing to help individuals.
