After reading through some of the comments, some of which can be considered as hate speech, I was prompted to respond. It seems that Errol Naidoo has become the scapegoat for everyone who feels that their relationships or worldview is being challenged. This outlash at the Panafrican Conference on Family Values illustrates this.

If we look at modern society at large, nobody can argue that families need support in raising their children to become strong, contributing members of society.

Dysfunctional families are a catalyst for a host of social ills.If we fail to restore and strengthen the family, we have little hope of building a strong, healthy and viable society. South African society is only as strong as the family – Errol Naidoo”

As founder of the Family Policy Institute Errol Naidoo has been doing tremendous work in accomplishing this through the Judeo-Christian ethos.

If one is confident and secure in one’s own worldview and family values, it would not be necessary to tear down people who differ from us, instead we can start by listening to one another.

I am deeply concerned about the growing attempts to exclude and undermine LGBTQ+ people and their families in the name of culture, religion or traditional values. We must remember that South Africa is a diverse society, and every person deserves dignity, equality, safety and respect. Families raising LGBTQ+ children are also part of our communities and deserve to be recognised and supported. We cannot promote values that result in discrimination, rejection, violence or dehumanisation. As communities, we need more dialogue, education and solidarity to ensure that everyone—regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity—can live freely and safely

Any form of anti-LGBT+ conference, meeting, gathering of any sorts is unconstitutional and therefore should be deemed illegal in our country. Sections 9 (3) and (4) clearly bans any form of discrimination on the basis of equality. Thereby stating that all people AND all families gay or straight are equal.

This is ridiculous. Of all the things that are happening in the country they could have this conference about, they choose this. All the money that could have gone to starving people that will fund this conference could have gone the poor and starving but it’s used for this?? The lgbtqia+ community isn’t and shouldn’t be a priority because it threatens nobody. Corruption, gbv and unemployment on the other hand?

If we give the government the ability to take away the rights of a group of people once, there’s nothing to stop them from taking away the rights of other groups of people aswell.

South Africa isn’t shaped by Christianity alone. Traditional African beliefs and practices are also influential, so hosting an anti-LGBTQ+ conference does not mean it reflects the views or values of the entire country.

And somehow it is even a chance having these anti-human groups in Cape Town. Where else a huge group could gather and protest against them? And at least if the relevant authorities have the balls they can arrest those haters breaking the law. It would be in the media all over the world and demask those who were unable to promote their hate in America and Europe and now abuse Africa for their agenda.

It’s sad to see religious people who are meant to spread love usually do the opposite instead.

I hope people open their eyes and see they spread their hateful agenda and bigotry in the name of God.
