The people who initiated, advocated for, built relationships, put in the work and helped make WorldPride coming to Africa possible deserve to be named and acknowledged. That includes Viola, Mike, Romeo, Carmen, Idriez, Luciano and the wider Ekasi Pride community.

Celebration should not come at the expense of proper recognition. There is enough room to honour those who are representing the bid today while also giving credit to those whose work helped make this historic moment possible. We should not rewrite the history of our own movement.
