Brent, please write us an article on the new Lexus IS 350S (SPORT). Just a pity that they are not bringing the AWD version to SA... Saw it this weekend at Lexus Centurion. Was amazed. Went straight to Audi & BMW to see their competitors. Looks like cars from a previous generation... O, and I went straight to Woolies in my Juke turbo *wink after that.

I Brent, yes I have never driven any of these before. What you just said also came up on a previous occasion with friends. I argument was just, you buy a sports car for performance and not a comfy ride. Comfy = Premium like Lexus and their German enemies. I guess its an argument we can keep on talking about (wink).

In reply to <a href="https://www.mambaonline.com/2013/09/03/motoring-bmws-budget-supercar/#comment-25549">Derek</a>.

Hi Derek. While I won't argue the merits of the GT-R - I've driven one and it remains the most insane car I've ever piloted - there are still some unfortunate negative connotations associated with the Nissan badge when comparing the GT-R to 'premium' brands like BMW. Yes, the GT-R is stupidly fast and yes, it's a lot cheaper than may other supercars. However, the GT-R is a hard-riding brute with a more track-focused attitude to everything. The BMW can be soft and comfy for when you just want to drive to Woolworths, yet it can be made super-tight and feisty when you find yourself at Kyalami on a Sunday. The GT-R is hard and harsh at all times.

You mention Nurburgring lap times and 0-100 sprint times quite fervently, but as I said in my article, these cars are all as fast as one another in the real world. How often are you, in your GT-R, going to pull up alongside an M6 for argument's sake and be able to execute a perfect race launch and really do 0-100 km/h in 2.8 seconds? Probably never. And unfortunately, such a task is extremely dangerous and will land you in trouble with the law just a few seconds later.

Thanks very much for your feedback! :)
