I think everyone should be free to make their own choices. That includes religious freedoms. Bigotry against religion is the real problem here…. it is just another form of discrimination….

If we take our rights for granted, and do nothing when they are challenged or ignored, we could lose them. And we will have no-one to blame but ourselves.

Unfair discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation is ILLEGAL in SA. This means, Louise and Bronwyn, that religion doesn't get a free pass to just ignore the law. Religious beliefs are not any kind of an excuse to perpetuate hatred and homophobia, and religions have gotten away with this sort of thing for far too long. I think more of our gay brothers and sisters should book weddings there. Let's get OUT and other LGBTi groups more much-needed money from these verkrampte bigots.

Come on guys, really. There is plenty of gay friendly venues, all over South Africa. As a christian lesbian, I believe it’s totally wrong to call people names for their religious believes. If they want to judge, let them. They will be judged. If we react in a loving way and accept that others have a right to their believes, then I believe that they will eventually come around and start respecting us for our sexual orientation. Stop this animosity already. We have been hard done by for decades, even centuries and we have stood up against it. I’m not staying we must stop fighting for our rights. But lets face it, South Africa has it easy now, in comparison to many other countries. Continue “fighting” for our rights, but don’t become those who judge us. Let them judge, they will be judged.

Gay spending has increased 14% in the last 3 years. Instead of fining these venues for refusing same sex couples to marry on this venue the gay community should blacklist these type of venues and even companies. In the short term 20k is a lot but in the long term they will suffer even more from same sex couples refusing to stay at the venue let alone have a wedding there. A lot of my straight friends have already blocked venues and companies that displayed discrimination towards same sex couples.
