HEARTLANDS UP FOR SALE

Less than two months after its opening, Johannesburg’s Heartlands entertainment complex in Braamfontein is up for sale. And according to owner Arthur Calamaras – also the head of the national Adultworld chain – it’s a steal at R12 million.

“It’s got huge potential to keep on growing”, said Calamaras, “and we’ve done a great job to get it up and running”.

When asked why he wanted to sell up, Cape Town Calamaras denied it was for financial reasons, but rather that the venue was proving difficult to manage from out of town. “Plus”, he added, “I’ve now done what I set out to do. Create one of the country’s prime entertainment venues.”

The Heartlands was the post-parade home of Pride this year, playing host to thousands of revellers last Saturday. It also pulled an impressive crowd for that night’s after-party.

Calamaras says that the entire venue is up for sale, “lock stock and barrel”, including the building and everything that comes with it. The Heartlands will continue to operate as usual until a buyer is found.
