IVAN TOMS MEMORIAL SERVICE ANNOUNCED

Advertorial

A memorial service for the late Dr Ivan Toms will be held at St Georges Cathedral in Cape Town on Wednesday April 2 at 16h00.

The service will be conducted by Nobel Peace Prize laureate and long-time supporter of the gay and lesbian community, Archbishop Tutu.

Toms, who was Cape Town’s executive director of health, was found dead in his Mowbray home last week.

He was also a much-lauded anti-apartheid, gay rights and health activist.

An autopsy revealed that he had died from the sudden onset of meningococcal meningitis, an inflammation of the membranes around the brain.
