PLAYBOY TO TARGET GAY MARKET

Advertorial

It’s been reported that Playboy Enterprises, owner of the Playboy brand and publisher of Playboy magazine, is to move into the gay market for the first time.

According to XBIZ.com, the company plans to offer a ‘soft-core’ television video-on-demand service to subscribers of the Time Warner Cable service – the largest in the US.

The move is seen as an attempt by the company to diversify and expand its offerings outside of its traditionally heterosexual market.

The new service was reportedly discussed in a letter from Playboy to Time Warner in which the company said that it will offer 20 hours of “professionally produced adult programs selected by Playboy, targeted to the male gay community.”

While the reports have not been confirmed by either player, XBIZ says that it expects the service to start as soon as next month.

Playboy magazine, which was launched in 1953 by Hugh Hefner, has grown into Playboy Enterprises, Inc. – a multimedia company producing adult entertainment for print and online media, as well as for cable and satellite television channels.
