MAMBA EDITOR HONOURED
Mambaonline.com’s publisher and editor Luiz DeBarros has been selected as one of the Mail & Guardian’s “300 Young South Africans You Have To Take To Lunch”.
DeBarros was included in the media category of the newspaper’s highly-regarded annual supplement, which is included in today’s edition.
“While I was surprised to still be considered ‘young’,” said DeBarros cheekily, “it’s a great privilege to be included among such an inspiring group”.
The list includes achievers in a variety of fields, such as singers Lira and Loyiso Bala, popular band Goldfish, meteorologist Simon Gear, radio talk show host Redi Direko and athlete Oscar Pistorius.
Commenting on the supplement, the Mail & Guardian’s editor, Nic Dawes said: “This list is a cross-section of the present, but it is also a map to the future and it cheers us up no end,”
Other openly gay South African achievers featured in list include DA Member of Parliament Ian Ollis, thought to be one of the first South African politicians to go on public record about his sexuality, as well as Joburg theatre manager and socialite Mika Stefano.
Congrats!. Congratulations Luis deBarros. You’re doing us proud. Best wishes!
