CAPE TOWN PRIDE COMMUNITY WORKSHOP

Advertorial

A Cape Town Pride community workshop is set to take place on Saturday 15 August at the Saartjie Baartman Centre, Klipfontein Road, Athlone.

The board of Cape Town Pride has set up the meeting in order to achieve greater community participation and involvement in the event.

Topics to be discussed include an invitation to the public to suggest themes for the 2010 festival, to be held over the period of February 26th until March 7th.

“We want to hear diverse voices and views regarding the annual Pride Festival before we even commence any planning for 2010. The festival has been growing every year and it is opportune to review where we’re heading,” Glenn de Swardt, chairperson of Cape Town Pride said.

Last year, Cape Town Pride came under fire and was boycotted by certain groups for being unrepresentative. The board insisted that it had given these groups every opportunity to play a part in the planning and organisation of the event.
