MR GAY SA GETS INTERNATIONAL NOD

Advertorial

The recently launched Mr. Gay South Africa™ pageant has been awarded the rights to send the only representative from South Africa to the prestigious Mr. Gay World contest in Oslo, Norway in February 2010.

“Our pageant and efforts have been recognised by this international body and they will be keeping a close watch on proceedings,” said the organisers of Mr. Gay South Africa in a statement.

The pageant was informed of the news by Mr. Gay World’s Director for Africa, Brian Merriman.

Merriman was invited to attend the Mr. Gay South Africa finals later in the year as a guest of honour. Organisers also say that there will be discussions on the possibility of hosting the Mr. Gay World pageant in South Africa in the coming years.

The directors of Mr. Gay South Africa said that they were “delighted” that the pageant was being internationally recognised:

“It is a great step in the right direction to rectify the problems amongst the South African gay male pageants. For once we have a registered, trademarked event, searching for the ultimate gay male in a nationwide search in a truly neutral and transparent way and now the winner will be the legitimate representative to represent South Africa at the international event. We will be talking to all other role players in the gay male pageant market to ensure total co-operation and inclusion in the future.”

The Mr. Gay South Africa winner and the event directors will fly to Oslo courtesy of sponsorship from Club Travel Honeydew in Johannesburg.
