L WORD REALITY SHOW GETS GREEN LIGHT

A reality version of the popular lesbian drama series, The L Word, has been given the go-ahead to start casting by the US Showtime network, reports Variety.

The drama series, which starred Jennifer Beals, Mia Kirshner and Laurel Holloman, recently came to an end after six seasons.

According to the industry magazine, the new series, dubbed The Real L Word, will follows the lives of six real women in Los Angeles. The series is scheduled to debut some time next year in the US.

“Even though we concluded our sixth season of The L Word on Showtime this past March, I believe we are not nearly finished telling our L Word stories,” The L Word creator Ilene Chaiken told variety.

Earlier this year Showtime chose not to go ahead with a planned The L Word spinoff drama series set in a women’s prison. Chaiken has previously also revealed that she is working on an The L Word feature film.
