SURVIVOR WINNER FREED
Richard Hatch, the gay Survivor winner, has been released from jail after serving a four year sentence for not paying tax on his $1 million prize.
Hatch (48), who won the very first series of the popular reality show, was released from the Massachusetts jail on Friday morning.
Throughout his court case he denied his guilt and claimed that Survivor producers had promised to pay his taxes on his behalf.
In an interview with the Today show while under house-arrest in August, Hatch accused the prosecutor and judge in his trial of discriminating against him because he is gay.
When asked if he believed that he would have avoided jail if he were heterosexual, he replied: “I do believe that.”
At the time, Hatch also did interviews with two other media outlets which officials said he did not have permission to do and he was returned to jail where he stayed until his release last week.
He will now face three years of supervised release which entail regular visits to a probation officer and requiring permission to travel.
