Despite rainy conditions, around one million people turned out for the annual Rio De Janeiro Pride celebrations in Brazil on the weekend.

Rio’s 14th Pride parade, which stretched down Avenida Atlântica in Copacabana, was also attended by the state’s governor as well as other officials.

Made in Brazil reported that Rio’s Mayor, Eduardo Paes, has committed substantially more funds to the event next year for its 15th anniversary.

The weekend also saw Taiwan’s LGBT Pride Parade drawing over 25,000 people in Taipei, under the theme of “Love Out Loud”.

It’s a remarkable turnout considering that only 500 people took part in the first event just six years ago in 2003. It is now believed to be the largest Pride event in Asia.
