ADAM LAMBERT “SHOCKS” AT AWARDS SHOW
Openly gay singer Adam Lambert has shocked some US viewers with his raunchy performance at Sunday night’s American Music Awards.
The show was Lambert’s first performance on television since coming in second place at this year’s American Idol talent contest.
While presenting the first single, For Your Entertainment, from his debut album, Lambert caressed his male and female dancers, simulated oral sex with a male dancer and kissed a male keyboardist.
Producers were reportedly unaware of the planned antics, and neither, apparently was the straight keyboardist, Tommy Joe Ratliff, who was kissed by the star.
“Adrenaline is crazy and sometimes things just happen,” Lambert said after the show. “We had this great dance number totally staged. It’s a sexy song about seduction and power and I was just doing the lyrics justice. My intention was not to try and create a controversy. But if a controversy ensues, then so be it.”
The Baltimore Sun’s Sarah Kickler Kelber, however was less impressed with the quality of the performance: “And let’s put performance in ‘air quotes’ while I’m at it”, she wrote. “He did more shrieking than singing.”
Lambert was recently criticised by gay magazine Out for trying to avoid being seen to be “too gay”.
A joke. I watched the performance, it certainly was raunchy. I wouldn’t say he was shrieking though, he does have a very powerful voice.
However……
The controversial performance aside, if he has any problems with being seen as “too gay”….. it’s too late I’m afraid!
Double Standards. What amazes me every time is that just because he DARED simulate gay sex, it is a HUGE controvery. But if it were Madonna or Britney spears acting all slutty, or even kissing each other, it is a GREAT show.
I really hate the americans, they are exactly what is wrong with this world.

Adam Simulation. America the great first world country and yet they can’t stop talking about a few sec’s of simulation on a late night Awards show by a GAY man. Come on WTF. Adam Lambert you go boy. We are all different as gay men and to each his own but in a world where we are still seen as second class citizens, American can go fkck themselves. The man is just playing the game. It’s fine for a str8 person to play the game but NO WAY for a gay person. What a shame.
