JOLIE ADDRESSES DAUGHTER’S GENDER-BENDING

Advertorial

Actress Angelina Jolie has addressed media reports that her four year old biological daughter apparently identifies as a boy.

The story first made headlines when Life & Style magazine published an article titled “Why is Angelina turning Shiloh into a boy?” about Shiloh Jolie-Pitt’s gender-bending dress sense.

It quoted stylist Alana Kelen as saying: “Shiloh is pushing the boundaries of a tomboy look and crossing over to cross-dresser territory.”

While Kelen afterwards claimed that the magazine had taken her comment “completely out of context,” Jolie herself has talked about the issue in a new interview with Vanity Fair magazine.

“She wants to be a boy. So we had to cut her hair. She likes to wear boys’ everything. She thinks she’s one of the brothers,” said Jolie.

“Shiloh, we feel, has Montenegro style,” she added. “She dresses like a little dude. It’s how people dress there. She likes tracksuits, she likes [regular] suits.”

In an interview last year with Oprah Winfrey, Brad Pitt told the talk show host that Shiloh prefers to be called John.

Some commentators have questioned the appropriateness of speculating about a child’s gender identity at such a young age.

Jolie and Pitt have three adopted children, Maddox, Pax, and Zahara, as well as three biological children, Knox, Vivienne and Shiloh.
