LADY GAGA STORMS UP CELEB LIST
Pop phenomenon Lady Gaga has stormed up the annual Forbes Celebrity 100 list for the first time, but failed to take the top spot.
The list, which aims to reflect the most powerful celebrities in the world, is based not only on the estimated income that stars earned between June 1, 2009 and June 1, 2010, but also their exposure in the media, including the internet.
According to the finance magazine, talk show queen Oprah Winfrey is the richest and most powerful celebrity in the world, making $315 million over the past year. This means that Winfrey earns over $850,000 a day.
Second on the women-dominated list is singer Beyonce Knowles, who raked in a cool $87-million. Other female artists in the top ten include Lady Gaga (no 4), pop star Britney Spears (6), actress Sandra Bullock (8) and music icon Madonna (10).
This is Gaga’s first appearance on the list. She earned around $62 million thanks to a concert tour as well as endorsement deals with brands such as Polaroid, Virgin Mobile and Mac cosmetics.
Angelina Jolie had the biggest fall from grace, droping from number two in the previous year to number 18 in 2010. Surprisingly, talk show host and American Idol judge Ellen DeGeneres only came in 23rd place.
James Cameron was the top male celebrity in third place, while Tiger Woods took fourth place – despite his very public disgrace and loss of endorsements. The band U2 came in at number seven and Johnny Depp was number nine on the list.
Other celebrities in the top fifty included footballers David Beckham (36) and Cristiano Ronaldo (48) as well as Twilight actor Robert Pattinson (50).
