US gay soldier and activist Lt. Dan Choi and other protestors have been arrested for stopping traffic during a demonstration in Las Vegas, reported the Vegas Happens Here blog.
The activists blocked the famous Las Vegas strip on Tuesday by unfurling large banners supporting the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA).
Other activists from GetEQUAL held up picket signs highlighting the lack of protection of gay and lesbian employees under US law. One sign read: “I can still be fired for who I am.”
The protest came after the majority Democratic Party failed to schedule a vote by lawmakers on the legislation.
Choi was earlier this year arrested after he took part in a protest again the US military ban on gay and lesbian personnel by chaining himself to the White House Fence. The charges in the case were dropped by prosecutors last week.
