Organisers have revoked Miss Cape Town Pride 2010’s title due to allegedly inappropriate behaviour.
The news was announced in a statement on Facebook by Dominic Kessell, Deputy Chairperson of Cape Town Pride.
“Some of you may have heard rumours around the recently crowned Miss Cape Town Pride, Noxolo. It is with great disappointment that we had no choice but to revoke her title as Miss Cape Town Pride 2010 due to the embarrassment caused to Cape Town Pride and the community to which she represents,” said Kessell.
He added: “Noxolo will no longer be referred to as Miss Cape Town Pride nor is she affiliated to Cape Town Pride in any way and has been informed in writing of our intent to revoke her title.”
Kessell said that organisers will be in contact with the princess next in line for the title and details will be made public once this has been finalised.
It’s unclear as to exactly what caused Noxolo, aka Kenneth Jacobs, to lose his title but comments on his Facebook profile indicate that he was briefly jailed earlier this week and that an incident took place at Rosie’s bar in the city’s gay village.
Jacobs told Mambaonline that he believed that the revoking of his title was unfair.
“The only thing I can say say now is that I was defending myself and I don’t understand the revoking of the Pride [title] ‘cause they didn’t even get my side of the story yet and I’ve got witnesses who witnessed the whole drama,” said Jacobs.
He added: “In my understanding I am still Miss [Cape Town Pride] because I haven’t received anything in black and white and in my eyes that is unprofessionalism.”
Attempts by Mambaonline to obtain comment from Cape Town Pride at the time of this article being published were unsuccessful.
Jacobs was crowned Miss Cape Town Pride on 20 February at the Joseph Stone Auditorium in Athlone.
My oh my!. First class drama!
