KATY PERRY DEDICATES VIDEO TO VICTIMS OF GAY BULLYING

Advertorial

Singer Katy Perry has dedicated her new music video, Firework, featuring two boys kissing, to the campaign supporting victims of homophobic bullying.

“I am officially dedicating my new video to ‘itgetsbetter’, because everyone has the spark to be a FIREWORK,” tweeted Perry on Thursday.

Filmed in Budapest, the video depicts a number of scenarios including an overweight girl afraid to swim with her friends, a child battling with cancer and two gay boys who feel left out at a party.

The song is a heartfelt call for those who feel excluded or marginalised to realise their self-worth and unique value in the world.

The It Gets Better Project aims to support LGBT teens struggling to come to terms with their sexuality, given particular significance by the recent suicides of a number of gay teens in the US following incidents of gay bullying.
