It’s been revealed that an album of previously unheard music by the late Michael Jackson will be released worldwide in December.
The news was announced on Friday by Epic Records and the Estate of Michael Jackson. The CD is titled simply Michael.
“The creative process never stopped for the King of Pop who was always planning for his next album,” said the statement.
It added: “Unbeknownst to many fans around the world Michael Jackson was writing and recording songs continuously everywhere from a friend’s home in New Jersey to studios in Las Vegas and Los Angeles with a small group of handpicked collaborators.”
Breaking News, the first single off the album, was recorded in New Jersey in 2007 and was recently completed. Michaeljackson.com will stream the song on the site for one week only from Monday November 8 before it is officially released later in the month.
The cover artwork for Michael was created by painter Kadir Nelson in 2009. In the oil painting, Kadir – who is known for story telling through his art – depicts key moments and people in Jackson’s life.
It is estimated that Jackson’s music has reached sales of over 750 million records worldwide. The entertainer died on the 25th of June 2009.
