Elton John (63) and his partner David Furnish (48) are celebrating the festive season with the birth of their surrogate son.
The child, named Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John, was born on Christmas day in California courtesy of a surrogate.
“We are overwhelmed with happiness and joy at this very special moment,” said John and Furnish in a statement.
“Zachary is doing really well, and we are very proud and happy parents,” they added. Neither the identity of the mother nor the father have been revealed.
John and Furnish were wed in a civil partnership ceremony in 2005. They unsuccessfully attempted to adopt a HIV-positive orphan in the Ukraine last year.
