CATHY SPECIFIC MAKES BEST DRESSED LIST
Performer Brendan van Rhyn’s drag persona, Cathy Specific, has been named the fifth best dressed woman of 2010 on stylist Simon Rademan’s list.
Rademan has published his list since 2001. It has become something of an institution in the South African fashion world.
“Electrifying” is how Rademan described Specific, adding “If some women do not get it right, there are always some ‘men’ that will want to set them straight. Mr Brendan van Rhyn created an alter ego that made many jaws drop!”
“I’m very thankful,” van Rhyn told Mambaonline, “it’s all about tailoring, tailoring, tailoring – that’s the secret”. He added that “Cathy is on cloud nine at the news”.
The 2010 top five are rounded off by soap actress Jana Strydom (4th), Generations star Winnie Ntshaba (3rd), former Generations actress Palesa Mocuminyane (2nd) and singer / actress Tanya van Graan (1st).
The worst dressed woman title went to Yolandi Visser from the rap-rave group Die Antwoord.
Yolandi Visser coming in last is bullshit! She has shown individualism and creativity, and I swear, when she wore the oversized-T and dollar-panties in enter the ninja, I nearly turned straight.
