Pop superstar Britney spears has revealed the title and artwork for her upcoming seventh studio album.

The CD will be called Femme Fatale and is described as “a tribute to bold, empowered, confident, elusive, fun, flirty women and men”.

The singer’s record company said that it’s not a conceptual album: “Spears is letting the music speak for itself. She’s worked hard on it for two years and she considers it to be her “best album to date,” true to where she is now personally and professionally.”

“I’ve poured my heart and soul into this album over the last 2 years. I’ve put everything I have into it,” tweeted Britney. “This album is for you, my fans, who have always supported me and have stuck by me every step of the way! I love you all!” she added.

Spears most recently set a new one-day precedent for single sales in the US with her No. 1 hit song, Hold It Against Me, which is the first single off the upcoming album.

In related news, acclaimed director Jonas Ã…kerlund, who shot the video for the new song, and Spears’s representatives have dismissed claims that she used a body double for dance scenes during the shoot.

“The accusations could not be further from the truth. Britney worked extremely hard on this video and rehearsed for six weeks prior to shooting. Fans will immediately see how inaccurate these claims are once they see the video.”

Spears has sold close to 70 million albums cumulatively worldwide and boasting five No. 1 debut albums, and 24 Top 40 hits.

Details on the video premiere and album release date are forthcoming.
