LESBIAN SHOOTING SURVIVOR HELPING POLICE FIND PARTNER’S KILLER

The surviving member of a teenage lesbian couple who were shot in a park in Texas last month is helping police identify the killer.

Mary Kristene Chapa (18) and Mollie Judith Olgin (19) were found lying in tall grass in the park late last month. It is believed that they had been shot nine hours before they were discovered.

Olgin was dead but Chapa was alive and was taken to hospital where she began her recovery from her injuries. These included brain damage that has affected her sight and ability to communicate.

According to reports, she is making a remarkable recovery and is undergoing speech and physical therapy.

Over two sessions with an artist, Chapa has been able to help police put together and refine a sketch of the suspect, which has been released to the media.

Her family chose to keep Olgin’s death from her for some time before eventually telling her the truth.

“She didn’t know about Mollie for the longest time, but we finally decided to tell her,” her brother Hilario Chapa told NBC Latino. “She was broken-hearted, very upset,” he said.

The couple had been dating for about five months before the shooting. The motive for the attack remains unknown.
