Pretoria Pride is set to return on Saturday, 10 October 2026, with organisers promising a full day of LGBTQ+ celebration, entertainment and community at the Centurion Rugby Club.
Taking place under the theme “Pride Reclaimed: United in Strength”, the event will get underway at 09:00, with the annual Pride Parade scheduled to start at midday.
This year’s event comes amid some recent public friction over Pretoria Pride and Jacaranda Pride both being held in Centurion on the same day.
Pretoria Pride, marking its 14th edition, has now sought to move beyond the disagreement, saying there is space for both independently organised events and calling for a conciliatory approach.
Pretoria Pride Responds to Jacaranda Pride Date Clash
In recent weeks, the scheduling of Pretoria Pride and Jacaranda Pride on 10 October has sparked discussion within the local LGBTQ+ community.
Pretoria Pride’s Bruce Walker acknowledged the situation but stressed that people should not feel pressured to take sides.
“There is room for more than one way to celebrate Pride. Pretoria Pride and Jacaranda Pride are independently organised events, but ultimately we share a community. We don’t want anyone to feel they need to choose sides,” said Walker.
Pretoria Pride has also extended an invitation to members of the Jacaranda Pride community to attend its event and encouraged those who want to support both celebrations to do so.
The message marks an effort to refocus attention on what the two events have in common: providing spaces for LGBTQ+ people to gather, celebrate and be visible.
What to Expect at Pretoria Pride 2026
Pretoria Pride 2026 will feature live entertainment throughout the day, along with DJs, food stalls, non-food vendors, community organisations and giveaways.
The Pride Parade, traditionally one of the central elements of the event, will set off at 12:00.
Organisers describe Pretoria Pride as a family-friendly event, although people under the age of 18 will not be permitted inside the bar area.
Walker said the event is intended to bring together both long-standing supporte rs and those attending Pretoria Pride for the first time.“Bring your people. Meet your people. Come as you are,” he said.
