Johannesburg Pride 2026 drew thousands of revellers to the streets of Sandton on Saturday, 31 October, for the 36th edition of Africa’s biggest LGBTQ+ event.
Led by drag diva Grand Marshal Adam and Deputy Minister for Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities Mmapaseka Steve Letsike, the Johannesburg Pride parade wound its way through the city’s business capital.
Marchers braved the scorching heat, singing and chanting in a vibrant display of LGBTQ+ visibility, freedom and diversity.
The Pride Village offered a lively space to celebrate Africa Pride Month, featuring a variety of performers, stalls, food vendors and community organisations.
Several political parties also used the event as a platform to appeal to LGBTQ+ voters ahead of the local government elections.
For many, Pride served as a rare safe space to express their identities, embrace who they are and freely celebrate their love and community.
