BRAD PITT GIVES $100,000 FOR GAY MARRIAGE

Heart-throb, actor and humanitarian Brad Pitt has been a major contributor towards the anti-Proposition 8 campaign in California.

Donating $100,000, Pitt’s pledge will go towards supporting gay couples in their fight for the right to marry, equal health insurance, protections for children, and partnership decision-making related to medical emergencies and other situations.

“Because no one has the right to deny another their life, even though they disagree with it, because everyone has the right to live the life they so desire if it doesn’t harm another and because discrimination has no place in America, my vote will be for equality and against Proposition 8,” the actor said in a statement.

Proposition 8 was placed on the ballot after the California Supreme Court invalidated the state’s prohibition on same-sex marriage in May.

Pitt has been previously quoted as saying that he and partner Angelina Jolie will never marry until everyone in America is “legally able” to marry whoever they want.

The pledge is the largest the organisation has received from an A-list celebrity so far and there are hopes that other Hollywood stars will join the campaign.
