Brazilian authorities say they suspect that a police sergeant may be behind the serial murder of gay men in Sao Paulo.
The Sao Paulo State Public Safety Department made the claim, but refused to identify the officer and said that neither the sergeant nor anyone else had yet been arrested or charged with the murders.
Police believe that a homophobic serial killer is behind the murder of at least 13 gay men in the sprawling city’s outskirts between July 2007 and August 2008.
The bodies were found in a park known as a cruising spot for gay men.
The suspected serial killer has been dubbed the “rainbow maniac” by the Brazilian media.
