Around 50 people gathered at the Malawian High Commission in Pretoria on Wednesday to demand that the Malawian government release Steven Monjeza and Tiwonge Chimbalanga.
…… They (the government) certainly do have Unity and Freedom. Unity in hiding each others corruption and shady deals, and the Freedom to oppress their own citizens.
What a waste. There is enough homophobia in our own country, not to mention racism towards interracial couples, why are we wasting our time and energy protesting against something so far from home. Lets focus our energies on changing the mindset of SA citizens rather?
Not a waste!. It’s exactly because of this kind of attitude that there is so much negativity and homophobia! If more people have a stand for something that they believe in, then perhaps this country (and the world) would become a better place.
Step outside of your little comfort zone, for the world is a much bigger place than you think. I suggest you take your finger out of your @ss, and look at a map to see just how close Malawi is to us. It is sad that people only think about themselves, always only complaining when they don’t get their way, but never willing to stand for what they believe in. Isn’t it so much better to give than to receive? (no pun intended)
This is not a waste! All the guys and gals there, you make us proud! It is because of your continued efforts, and those years before us, that we in SA actually do have gay rights. It might not be perfect for all of us, but at least we are not the ones persecuted for 14 years!
