OSCAR PISTORIOUS – THE NEW FACE OF A*MEN
South African athlete and 2010 Pravda Vodka Mambaonline Sexiest Man Finalist Oscar Pistorious has made history by being chosen as the face of designer Thierry Mugler’s A*Men fragrance.
The Johannesburg-born champion sprinter, who lost both his feet when he was a child, is known as the “blade runner”.
According to the Thierry Mugler brand, which is owned by Clarins, 25 year old Pistorious was chosen to represent A*Men because “he opens the way for a new style of modern hero: an atypical personality which asserts itself beyond everything one could have imagined – it is in perfect adequacy to the vision of Thierry Mugler”.
Pistorius appears in stunning 15 and 30 second online videos directed by Ali Mahdavi in which he can be seen sprinting clutching a bottle of A*Men.
His legs and carbon fibre artificial limbs are coated in a futuristic chrome cladding designed by Mugler and Stefano Canulli.
The print campaign, with the tag line “Above and beyond perfume”, featuring Pistorious will roll out next month around the world.
Launched in 1996, A*Men for men is described as “a spicy, oriental woody perfume, both intense and full of charisma”.
Pistorious, who was born with a congenital disorder in both legs and had them amputated below the knees when he was 11 months old, is a triple world record holder and triple Paralympic champion in the 100, 200 and 400 meters.
His sporting motto is: “You’re not disabled by the disabilities you have, you are able by the abilities you have.”

That’s our boy!. I’ve always adored Oscar and I’m so thrilled to see him do so brilliantly! At last, the waves of change are upon us.
Well done!. Wow, this is amazing. So proud of our South Africans!!!
Oscar. Another shining example of the strength that lives in all of us. Made me beam with pride!! Also made me wonder how many of us would give a disabled guy the time of day when it comes to relationships etc? Think about it seriously. Would you consider a relationship with a guy who has no legs or one arm missing, maybe walks with a limp or something like that?
Hunk. Our Oscar is quite hunk hey!
