well done mr gay sa. sa has it 2 years in a row…..whow
great!!. great!!
excellent!. its good to see white south african’s are still good for something!
RACIST!. and this proves what white gays think…
We rest our case, your HONOR!
get over yourself. Mr Gay SA was open to all…some guys of colour were in the finals
But hell boys..I was on the cruise and the Guys of colour were not good at all they just came for the ride…..
one did not Did not come to events and had a brake down etc
If you feel so strong about the colour card you get the Hot gay guys to enter.
We had to send someone who would go to each function that was held and did not think just cause I am BLACK you have to make me win…
Correct. Well said.
WHITES ONLY?. Yet another “spectacular” gathering all the caucasian sisters….
Where is the colour representation…
Was last years runner up 4rm Australia the closest this pageant will come to adding colour to an otherwise “bleak” SwaRay?
So Sad
🙁
Nothing New. Like someone said on another post: only whites are allowed to be gay!
This is such a racially divided community, that if you had to listen to the conversations of some of them, you would swear we havnt moved an inch into democracy.
The only benefit in this new South Africa, is that white gays can now be open to what they really are, and live their lives under the new dispensation.
Otherwise, black and coloured gays, go get yourselves a shebeen and camp it oout there, but when pride happens be sure to prounce in front of the camera`s ’cause we need the numbers… the world needs to “see” we so all inclusive *wink*
oh please… this crap really and seriously needs to end now already.
why cant whites just let go of their attitudes and stigma’s surrounding black people?
Why keep it an exclusive thing to keep “us” out? do get over yourselves.. Its time that we force our wors daar in daai ding!
wag julle!
Wow. wow guys! Serouisly!!! get over yourself!
This was Mr Gay WORLD. Not just south Africa!?!?!
Exactly. Exactly
blacks are not a majority in the world. blacks are not a majority in the world … and this is a WORLD competition, wake up and smell the roses – this is what the real world looks like.
blacks are not a majority in the world. blacks are not a majority in the world … and this is a WORLD competition, wake up and smell the roses – this is what the real world looks like.
Caucasian!. Maybe grow some brains seeing that all these boys have brains AND looks!
Affirmative Action – Not practiced by the World. Affirmative Action – is Not practiced by the rest of the World – where you get a free ticket just because you are black … Here you have to prove your mettle. By winning AGAIN Mr Gay World, Mr Gay SA proves beyond any doubt t hat they are choosing the BEST candidate, regardless of the man’s race. It’s time ppl of colour in SA get of their backsides and really earn their right to be there – the avenues are all open. Take it!
Hmmm not quite. I see people from Asia, from mixed backgrounds and Latin Amerixans. Certainluy not all white! Don’t call it all white just because BLACKS are not there!
African countries. Have you ever considered the fact that no other African countries enter the competition? Duhhh… As Africans we should take a look at ourselves instead of blaming others for our woes and take responsibility for the homophobia in our communities and nations. Stop whining and take steps to change the reality.
Blacks are no a majority in the world. It may come as a shock to you, but blacks are no a majority in the world – the Chinese are. Then Indians. Then whites. THEN blacks! These guys were chosen on MERIT – as opposed to in SA where people are chosen according to RACE.
Right man chosen!. The fact that Francois Nel won the international competition just proves, beyond any doubt, that the right man was chosen to represent South Africa. He happens to be white. So what! Or do we need a racial quota in pageants too?
I’m proud of him. Just because he is not black, or coloured, or yellow or some other mix, doesn’t mean that he is any less of a South African. He is not a second class citizen, so why all the fuss?
Bravo!. And ditto!
This is the WORLD – get real. This is the WORLD – where you get judged about your WORTH not your skin colour, as is the case in SA.
And btw where are all the African countries? It seems only SA entered …
Mr Gay World. Great eye candy and great for our community! Great choice in Mr SA
looks, what looks?. not many of these guys would pass as ‘goodlooking’ in the world of magazine shoots, fashion ramps etc, muscles aside. is this the best the gay world can come up with? that aside, well done, Mr South Africa.
Duh!. Well then, why didn’t you enter? Remember, it is by choice that these guys enter. Bitching about, “is this all there is to offer in the gay world” is a stupid and clearly a not thought out response. Your idea of “hot” guys obviously didn’t enter…
Photo CM?. Photo of you CM? No, ok, get it!
Photo CM?. Photo of you CM? No, ok, get it!

This is not a modelling or beauty pageant, as I read it. This is not a modelling or beauty pageant, as I read it –
The Mr. Gay World Competition is a Twenty First Century beauty contest where the delegates represent their nation as the best spokesperson and embody the spirit of their nation.
The delegate chosen to represent his peers on a global stage will not only have the inner beauty of confidence, self assurance, charisma and natural leadership abilities but he will also take care in his outward beauty.
The delegate will treat his body as his temple and will be active and outgoing. He will have impeccable grooming standards and has a thorough understanding of what attire is appropriate for each engagement he is to encounter.
During the stage competitions and particularly in the personal interviews, the jury will focus on the delegate who:
shows an interest in the world and people around him;
displays patience, has a compassionate and considerate nature;
embraces change, or things and people different from his own frame of reference, experience or cultural background;
can articulate his thoughts and conduct an intelligent conversation;
has a basic innate charm and sparkle;
is special, and authentic;
has poise and is secure with himself, without coming across as arrogant;
is the ambassador that his nation and local community is proud of;
can be a diplomat of goodwill;
has natural leadership skills;
he inspires his peers and people around him;
is willing to take risks and become something larger than he had imagined;
is willing to have fun, push his personal comfort zones, and meet many wonderful people around the globe and be part of a very select and special group of men;
he is Mr. Gay World
Racial dispute. What is up with you ppl? Fighting over why there is no blacks in the competition. Firstly it is an international competition, since when do other countries also have to be forced to be BEE compliant? SA has been forced to be ruled by ppl of colour and we have accepted it and made the best of our situation. Regardless of the fact that economically the country has gone downhill and promises have never been met. Don’t get me wrong, I am not racist as one of my best friends happen to be black. Now it is not good enough that there is not enough black people in a competition. GET OVER IT, people are chosen for the competition on merit and what they do for their countries gay community not because of colour. What you are trying to say is because SA won the winner should be black or else it is racially unfair. That is pathetic and besides is it not a black man that had someone killed recently in an African country due to the fact that he was a homosexual? Grow a brain before you comment fools.
oh please… The fact the all of you “white” folks keep on using the term “grow a brain” certainly says a lot of what you think of others.
I am white, and the way you white people go on also leaves a lot to be desired.
The world actually works on segregation… people in asia are forced to use skin lighting lotion to be be more fair, otherwise society will have issues with their original skin colour…
America used black people as slaves, so did we in this very country of ours. Australians also has an unseen devide with the ethnic people of its nation… so please…
To correct you statement – South Africa was not forced to be governed by blacks, the majority actually voted in a Black government to rule its own people… so dont disregard the millions of people who fought for their freedom… you have absolutely no respect for their choices. Millions was forced to be carrying “dom passes” and to be subjected to the racial policies of the past – they were killed – one could say slaughtered as if they were cattle… hence we celebrate human rights day tomorrow.. so please be that in mind and be considerate towards those who actually suffered at the hands of the oppressor.
The problem here is – we need representation, a true reflection of this country. and we dont ask for quota`s. We ask that the committee be open to the diversity which we have in this nation and not vote or select on racial lines.
It is no secret that racial issues thrive within the gay community and that we do ry and keep the “black element” out, i have heard it many times within my own circles, many of whom actually sit on these committees.. so next time you echo words, let it me insightful.
I agree that this is a global issue, one that does not include BBBEEE…
however, on home soil lets make these changes, deserving changes. ones that are long over due.
we need to be more accepting and open to different cultures and race groups and not create close circles that would keep it “pure” or stain free, as is the term.
we do not create a platform where everyone feels like they are part and parcel, and that environment is what is lacking. we make others feel at ease, we keep competitions only in certain areas – intentionally, we simply do not allow for others to be a part and partake in it.
so lets look at ourselves first, lets not make statements of division – lets eliminate the racist ideas first – the ones that we use so loosely, the looks we have when we see them and smile instead and ask how would you like to be part of what we are trying to do here for a greator cause.
Change ourselves first, in the hope that things will change for the better…
Dont retrogress to the dark days of apartheid, we can do better than that.. like we force good manners, lets force equality and inclusiveness as well! *wink*
Blacks are not a majority in the World. It may come as a shock to you, but blacks are no a majority in the world – the Chinese are. Then Indians. Then whites. THEN blacks!
Well said Concerning!. Well said! It may come as a shock to you, but blacks are no a majority in the world – the Chinese are. Then Indians. Then whites. THEN blacks!
@Anders. Thanks. I know that but the other populations and races don’t think that the world owes them something

Indians, latinas, orientals, and caucations thats not racism…. just cause there are no black africans??? hmm whos the racist here!!!!
there is more going on in the world than the whites just trying to keep the black man down… if thats all you see you the one that needs….hmm i dont know maybe and education JUST GET OVER YOURSELF!
whites cant do it for you do it for yourself….
getting really tiered of all your crap!
re; white mr sa not representative of the rest of africa. has their ever been and will their ever be a non-white mr sa. No and no..we need to realise that whites will continue to dominate domains owned by them..we should then create a space for mr black sa..thats seems to be the only way to circumvent the entrenched prejudices still evident in sa and the gay community!
Why always make race an issue?. Just get over yourselves
Get over yourself you stupid fool.. Are you kidding me??? Dude, grow up.
It may come as a shock to you, but blacks are no a majority in the world -. It may come as a shock to you, but blacks are no a majority in the world – the Chinese are. Then Indians. Then whites. THEN blacks!

So let us celebrate human rights day by saying Congratulations!
Congratulations to all those that have a vision of a world where there is no discrimination. South Africa, your liberal and progressive constitution was what inspired me and my team members to stand on a World stage and to be Proudly South African, therefore we wanted to invite the world to come and see you, for the beauty that you have, the spirit you embody and the free loving nation that you are!
Locally we have unfortunately been met with people who feel such humanist work does not deserve celebration or congratulations.
To those (very small) political parties and others who oppose us ? in your aim to deny celebrating humanist work by all the organisations, sponsors and delegates involved:
We do what we do, to prevent teen suicides, because young individuals that are homosexual need access to relevent information on being gay.
We aim to prevent rape in any form.
We work hand in hand to prevent and educate on HIV.
In our opinion, no matter what belief system you follow, it is work to the benefit of human kind, the emphasis on being kind.
And that is what we celebrate today!
