ADVERTORIAL: REPAIRING DAMAGED SKIN

Advertorial

You laughed, smoked and tanned your twenties and thirties (even forties) away and danced through the night whenever possible.

But nowadays the mirror has ceased to be your best friend and you don’t prance around in front of it quite so much to make sure your pose is working and you’re looking good. In fact, you only use it when you absolutely have to, like when shaving and doing your hair.

Twenty or thirty years ago sun block was not something commonly used or known to the general consumer. Baby oil was a popular choice as a suntan lotion because it smelt good and made the body more attractive and shiny.

The sunburn that was often the result of a day next to water was tolerated, a mere calculation error, and it is only now, years later that the damage done to our skins is showing up in the most unexpected ways.

Fortunately, help is available in the form of Photo Dynamic Therapy (PDT/LED) which will help even-out skin tone, soften damage the sun has caused, decrease fine lines, as well as speed up any recovery after skin treatment.

PDT helps the skin to heal because of its anti-inflammatory action and all of this is done with no pain or downtime, which is a big plus. If there’s been a bit of nip and tuck or plastic surgery, PDT/LED with red and yellow lights can also be used for wound healing, before and after.

A series of treatments would be necessary for optimum results and the length of treatment would be dependent on severity and what skin condition is being treated.

What is Photo Dynamic therapy PDT/LED?

Omnilux PDT/LED Rejuvenation therapy uses a combination of pure visible blue, red and yellow light to stimulate the deeper skin tissue and, depending on the wavelength, can be used for various skin repair processes.

For skin rejuvenation, a combination of red (Revive) and yellow (Plus) can treat photo aged skin, leading to a softening of fine lines and improved skin tone and smoothness. PDT/LED with red and yellow lights can also be used for wound healing before and after plastic surgery and ablative laser resurfacing.

Red therapy can also be used after Mela T and Mela M peels to reduce inflammation and helps after any type of peel to improve rejuvenation and redness.

Yellow lamp can be used before more aggressive laser treatments such as Pearl laser, as well as the deeper Mela T and Mela M peels to speed up the recovery process.

A combination of red and yellow light in specified sequences over a period of five weeks softens fine lines, improves skin’s softness, smoothness, tone and clarity all with no downtime or pain. All skin types can be treated.

In addition, PDT/LED Acne therapy uses alternating blue and red light to clear up a problem skin, and, once again, there is no pain involved.

Recent phototherapy (light therapy) research using visible blue and red light has shown its effectiveness in the treatment of mild to moderate acne. Clearance rates have exceeded over 60% in a number of studies.

It works with the body’s own natural processes to counteract the effects of ageing. The different lights target specific cells which are responsible for the synthesis and repair of the skin’s supportive structures. Consequently, substances are then released that induce fibroblasts and growth factors.

In 2007, in the USA, the Aesthetic Trends and Technologies Choice Awards™, nominated the Omnilux PhotoTherapeutics the best non-laser device for acne.

So have you called your nearest Skin Renewal Centre for an appointment yet? There is no pain and a lot to gain. Whether it’s to help you look younger, reduce the effects of acne or help to soften the damage the sun has caused; treat yourself to better looking skin and increased self-confidence.
