JANET JACKSON TO TOUR SA

Advertorial

South African fans will have the opportunity to get ‘up close and personal’ with superstar Janet Jackson when she performs in the country in November.

Jackson will be bringing her Janet Jackson Number Ones, Up Close and Personal Tour to South Africa for three concerts only, performing songs from her 35 number one hits.

After touring Asia, Canada, the USA and Europe, Jackson will perform at the Teatro at Montecasino, Johannesburg on Friday, 11 November and Saturday 12 November and GrandWest, Cape Town on Tuesday, 15 November.

The tour, presented by local promoter Showtime Management in association with 94.7 Highveld Stereo and 94.5 Kfm, will differ from her previous concerts in that she will perform music exclusively from her chart-topping CD Number Ones.

The venues for the shows will allow Janet to be up close and personal in a much more intimate setting.

In statement, Jackson said: “These concerts are different from anything I have ever done. I will be as up close and personal as possible. These concerts are not about special effects. This is a love affair between me and those of you who have supported me and my work for all these years. I’ll be singing and dancing from my heart. The music will all be songs that you’ve made number ones for me.”

Jackson also revealed that in both cities she will meet 20 young leaders who are changing their communities for the better. At each concert the 20 people chosen and the person who nominated them will be VIP guests at the show and will be invited backstage.

“I’m asking my fans and their friends, parents, relatives, neighbours and teachers to nominate five people to qualify as one of the 20 under 20 in each place I will perform,” said the 45-year-old star.

“There are many young people changing the word and I want them to be recognised during my tour. I want them to be my guest at my show and they will come back stage as I learn from them how young people are changing the world. You all know someone who is making a difference, so get in touch. I love you all and I can’t wait to be back on stage, I’ve missed you,” added Jackson.

“It is a major coup to have an artist of Janet Jackson’s quality performing in such an intimate environment. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to see one of the world’s greatest artists performing all her No 1 hits and experience it in small theatres and arenas,” said Showtime Management’s, Tony Feldman.

The five-time Grammy Award winning Jackson, who has sold over 100 million records around the world, is no stranger to South Africa, where she performed in 1998.
