GEORGE MICHAEL CONFIRMS SPLIT WITH PARTNER
Singer George Michael has confirmed rumours that he has broken up with his partner of 15 years, businessman Kenny Goss, during a concert in Prague.
“Kenny and I haven’t been together for two and a half years… It’s time to be honest,” the 48-year-old star said in an emotional on-stage confession at the Prague State Opera House on Monday.
“My battles with substances are well-documented and my partner went through similar problems with drink,” he said.
“My love life has been a lot more turbulent than I’ve let on,” he continued, adding: “This man has brought me a lot of joy and a lot of pain.”
Michael dedicated his performance of the song Where I Hope You Are to his former partner. The show was the opening concert in his Symphonica tour.
While the singer had long-denied a breakup with Goss, he had been spotted with other men in the recent past, including an alleged rent boy, and reportedly had a profile on a gay ‘hook-up’ iPhone app.
Michael had previously suggested that he and American-born Goss had an open relationship. They first met in 1996 in LA; Goss at the time apparently not aware of who he was.
