Sandy Bay

Following the recent selection of Clifton 3rd as one of the best gay beaches in the world by gay travel blog GayCities, Cape Town’s Sandy Bay has now made the cut as a top gay nude beach.

GayCities rated Sandy Bay as number eight in its list of “

The beach, situated along the road between Cape Town and Cape Point and adjacent to Llandudno, is a legendary South African nudist beach, particularly popular among gay men – especially on the far side of the beach.

“One of the last remaining untouched areas on South Africa’s Cape coast, Sandy Bay is an unofficial nudist beach, though its relative inaccessibility means it’s unlikely you’ll be molested (unless you want to be),” says GayCities.

“It’s a 20-minute walk from the car lot, or you can traverse the Hout Bay dunes, which—along with the mountains—provide privacy and shelter from strong winds. Expect a more tranquil experience than party atmosphere.”

The other – primarily American – beaches in GayCities’ list are: Black’s Beach in San Diego; Haulover Beach in Miami; Gunnison Beach in New Jersey; Little Beach in Hawaii; Baker Beach in San Francisco,: Herring Cove Beach in Provincetown, Massachusetts; Hanlan’s Point in Toronto, Canada; Orient Bay in Saint Martin, West Indies; and Beach 19 in Lisbon, Portugal.
