BENETTON RELEASES ‘UNHATE’ VIDEO
Italian clothing label Benetton, recently slammed for its kissing Pope ad, has released a new video as part of the same ‘Unhate’ campaign.
The video depicts individuals and groups of people in conflict and in love and shows various couples, including gay and lesbian couples, kissing.
This week, the company was forced to pull one of its ads – featuring the Pope kissing an imam – after the Vatican threatened legal action against it. Other ads in the Unhate series show opposing world leaders kissing.
Benetton says that the campaign is not just intended to bolster the flagging group’s brand, but also to support its Unhate foundation.
According to the Unhate website, the foundation “seeks to contribute to the creation of a new culture of tolerance, to combat hatred, building on Benetton’s underpinning values”.
