BIG BANG THEORY STAR MAKES IT OFFICIAL

Advertorial

Jim Parsons

Jim Parsons (39), who plays Sheldon Cooper in the popular sitcom The Big Bang Theory, has quietly confirmed that he is gay in a New York Times article.

The article, about the actor’s role in the upcoming Broadway play Harvey, mentions that he also starred in last year’s production of the gay-themed The Normal Heart.

Journalist Patrick Healy writes: “The Normal Heart resonated with him on a few levels: Mr. Parsons is gay and in a 10-year relationship, and working with an ensemble again onstage was like nourishment, he said.”

The news won’t come as a surprise to most in the entertainment world. The star’s sexuality has been an open secret for some time.

The National Enquirer tabloid previously featured an article about Parsons’s engagement to boyfriend Todd Spiewak.

Parsons has walked the red carpet and attended events with Spiewak and also thanked him at acceptance speeches at award shows.

Despite this, he had until now refused to directly acknowledge that he is gay.

Parsons has won two Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series and a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Television Series Musical or Comedy for his role in The Big Bang Theory.
