Pop star Adam Lambert wowed his local gay fans when he ate and partied in Cape Town’s gay village last night.
The 30-year-old openly-gay Grammy-nominated performer and his backup dancers had dinner at Beefcakes before moving on to Crew Bar in Green Point.
There, Lambert and his troop of around ten people, chatted to members of the public and spent about two hours having a good time.
“He was a bit overwhelmed with all the attention. With people taking pictures with him,” said Crew owner Ian McMahon, noting that the singer had no bodyguards or security with him.
“He was very down-to-earth. Easy to chat to and taller and thinner than I thought,” he added.
McMahon revealed that concert organisers had contacted him the previous day, letting him know that the star might be popping in. “He and his dancers seemed to have a lot of fun,” he said.
Earlier, Lambert performed in the Mother City at the Grand Arena, GrandWest to a sold out crowd.
He tweeted afterwards: “CAPETOWN!! You are all so beautiful!!! Thank u so much for a wonderful evening. Your energy was infectious.”
Lambert will be putting on his concert in Johannesburg on Friday night at the Coca Cola Dome. It is not yet known if he will also make an appearance at Joburg hotspots.
So glad to see Adam and his friends kicking back and relaxing, hope it will encourage him to come back to Cape Town again.
He is having a great time so beautiful over there!
I’ve been to Beefcakes in September when I visited Cape Town and their hamburgers are just awesome!! The atmosphere is the best, it’s like visiting with friends at your house. Adam, I hope enjoy your stay in our beautiful country. We have the most stunning spots where you can just relax
