Elton John says that he’s embarrassed about his feud with pop star Madonna and has revealed that she’s accepted his apology.

In August last year, John told Australia’s Channel 7 that Madonna’s “career is over” and that her “tour has been a disaster” and that it “couldn’t happen to a bigger c**t.”

He also said “she looks like a fucking fairground stripper”.

The tour went on to become the biggest selling tour of 2012 and one of the most successful ever.

Earlier that year, John and his husband David Furnish also slammed the Material Girl after she beat out John for the Best Original Song Golden Globe award. “Madonna. Best song???? Fuck off!!!” Furnish wrote on Facebook.

In a new interview with Extra’s Terri Seymour, John and Furnish opened up about the nasty superstar spat and confirmed that they had made up with Madonna.

“We were in a restaurant in France in the summertime. We just happened to be on the same restaurant. She came in, and I sent over a note. She was very gracious,” said Elton.

“I apologised profusely because what I said should never have appeared in public. She accepted our apology, and then we bought her dinner. And that’s over and done with. She was really great about it. I have to say she was fantastic. She was just like, ‘Okay, let’s get a move on’.”

Furnish added that both he and John were “embarrassed” by the incidents. “We don’t believe in putting negativity out in the world, both of us were embarrassed when all that stuff came out,” he said.
