Advertorial

Scottish-American actor John Barrowman, known for his roles in Arrow and Torchwood, has married his partner in California, following the resumption of same-sex marriages in that state.

On Tuesday, the forty-six-year-old star tweeted a picture of himself and his long time partner Scott Gill holding a marriage license certificate and showing off their wedding rings.

Barrowman tweeted, along with the picture: “We are now Legally Married. Thanks for all your great wishes. Jb and Scott.”

Earlier he posted a video on WhoSay in which he said: “We’re getting married in the state of California. Thank you Supreme Court, about time you made it legal. See you after we have the ceremony!”

The couple have been together for 20 years and previously entered into a civil partnership in the UK in 2006.

Barrowman stars in the American series Arrow as the villain Malcolm Merlyn.

He also played the groundbreaking bisexual character of Captain Jack Harkness in British sci-fi shows Doctor Who and Torchwood.

Last week, the US Supreme Court allowed California to resume licensing same-sex marriages after more than four years of legal wrangling.
