WATCH: BRAZIL’S 1ST TELENOVELA GAY KISS

Brazil’s biggest commercial television network has for the first time broadcast a gay lip-lock in one of its telenovelas.

According to Noticiasbr, the smooch came about after a concerted social media campaign urging the producers of the Amor à Vida (Love of Life) daily serial to show the characters of Félix (Matthew Solano) and Niko (Thiago Fragoso) finally sharing a proper kiss.

While the gay couple had previously been shown exchanging brief pecks on the cheek and hugging, it was the first time that the two characters sealed their relationship with something a little more passionate.

So strong was the demand to see the couple kiss properly the hashtag #BeijaFélixeNiko (#KissFélixandNiko) even briefly trended in the top spot on Twitter in Brazil.

The kiss was shown in Friday’s final episode of the serial which spanned over 221 episode.
