Caitlyn Jenner launches MAC cosmetics campaign
Caitlyn Jenner is the latest celebrity face of MAC cosmetics in a campaign that will raise funds for transgender causes.
MAC Cosmetics posted an image of Jenner on its Instagram page, showing the glamorous reality TV star applying makeup in a mirror.
“Caitlyn Jenner fearlessly shared her transition with the world, and now her new M•A•C Lipstick, Finally Free… is finally here!” said the company.
It added that, “100% of the selling price goes to the M•A•C AIDS Fund Transgender Initiative, to further its work in support of transgender communities.”
Jenner previously said that the MAC campaign was her “ultimate fantasy,” explaining that “I never thought in a million years that it would ever happen.”
The company wrote on its website that Jenner “is using her newfound platform not only to share with the world the simplest pleasures of life — like waking up each morning happy — but also to tirelessly advocate on behalf of the community of which she now finds herself a part.”
While Jenner had a huge impact on the mainstream public consciousness when she came out as trans last year, she has since been criticised for her conservative political and social views.
She’s also been slammed by some activists for being out of touch with the reality of most trans people’s lives.
Jenner’s reality show I Am Cait won the Outstanding Reality Program honour at the GLAAD Media Awards earlier this month; tying with I Am Jazz, about American trans teen, Jazz Jennings.
