Watch: Here’s your first look at the Rocky Horror Picture Show remake

Advertorial

Here-is-your-first-look-at-the-Rocky-Horror-remakeWill it be awesome or an embarrassing flop? The first teaser for the upcoming remake of the cult classic Rocky Horror Picture Show is out!

The original camp stage show and 1975 film continue to be cult crowd-pleasers around the world, with the role of the “transsexual” (and bisexual) fishnet-stockinged homicidal Frank-N-Furter, most famously played by Tim Curry.

This time, the iconic role is played by transgender star Laverne Cox (Orange is the New Black). While she may not match Curry in her look, it’s clear in the trailer that she’s very much inspired by his performance (including a faux English accent, it seems).

The new version of Rocky Horror will be in the form of a two hour television movie directed by Kenny Ortega (Michael Jackson’s This Is It, High School Musical) that will air on America’s FOX network for Halloween in October.

We’re also happy to report that Curry, who’s been in a wheelchair since a stroke in 2012, will appear in the show as the Narrator.

The outrageous musical is both a celebration of sexual liberation and a cautionary tale of its excesses.

Check out the teaser below, which includes Cox’s take on Frank-N-Furter’s famous line: “It’s not easy having a good time…”
