Hold on to your meat dress! None other than Mother Monster herself, Lady Gaga, will be appearing in an episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race.
In a major coup for the series, the star will be a guest judge in the season premiere of the upcoming 9th season of the popular drag contest.
In a sneak peak video clip, Gaga is shown in drag style makeup and wearing a royal beehive and a suitably outrageous gown.
“May the best woman win,” she pronounces, while standing next to executive producer and host RuPaul Charles.
Gaga confirmed the happy news on social media, tweeting: “The time has come! I’m joining the girls on the season premiere of @RuPaulsDragRace! #DontBeADrag #JustBeAQueen.”
The producers have promised that the season premiere episode will “feature a shocking opening that will go down as one of the most jaw-dropping moments in Drag Race history”. Consider us intrigued!
The 13 contestants in the new season were revealed last week (see them all here). They’ll be competing against each other for a $100,000 cash prize and the coveted title of “America’s Next Drag Superstar”.
Gaga is well and truly back in the headlines after she wowed America (and the rest of the world) with her show-stopping performance at the Super Bowl on Sunday.
Immediately after, she announced that she’ll be embarking on her Joanne World Tour, which will kick off in August. No dates have been announced for South Africa, but we can certainly hope that she’ll return to our shores.
Since its launch in 2009, the Emmy Award-winning RuPaul’s Drag Race has grown in popularity and has developed a committed fanbase around the world.
