Gay adult film stars marry 12 years after meeting on set
It’s a fairytale with an x-rated twist, as two former gay adult film actors tie the knot after first meeting 12 years ago on a film set.
Dressed in black tuxedos, Italian Ruggero Freddi (stage name Carlo Masi) and Argentianin Gustavo Leguizamon (stage name Adam Champ) married on Saturday at a villa in Rome surrounded by friends and family.
The happy couple’s ceremony was officiated by Vladimir Luxuria, a well-known Italian transgender actress, writer, politician and television host.
The two men first met more than a decade ago just before shooting an adult film in Sacramento, California. At the time, Freddi was one of the biggest stars of Colt Studios and was disappointed when Leguizamon seemingly failed to recognise him.
“Being the biggest star of the company, I introduced myself expecting that a newcomer would know who I was – but he pretended he didn’t know,” Freddi told PinkNews last week. “So I got upset, angry and fell in love,” he said, laughing.
“One month later, the night before we shot the scene together, we slept together and fell in love,” Freddi revealed.
They’ve been a couple ever since. “Of course, nobody took us seriously. A love story born on a porn set lasts as long as a rose does: three days,” Freddi commented before the wedding. “But 12 years later here we are, getting married in a few days.”
The men have moved on from their previous on-screen exploits. In fact, Freddi is now a math lecturer at Rome’s La Sapienza University.
In October his students discovered their professor’s adult film past, which made headlines around the world. Freddi said at the time that he had no regrets: “I am happy and proud of both my careers.”
The couple’s marriage will only be recognised as a civil union in Italy, as the country has yet to allow full marriage equality.
