Johannesburg Pride 2018 – all the details

It’s once again time for Johannesburg Pride, with the annual festivities taking place on Saturday 27 October.

We’ve pulled together all the details you need to know:

The Johannesburg Pride Parade and Mardi Gras event is being held at Melrose Arch from 11h00 to 19h00. Entry is free and there is no VIP area.

Gates open at 09h00. Participants and spectators are anticipated to arrive at Melrose Arch from between 10h30 and 12h00.

The Johannesburg Pride parade will start from the Pride Village, leaving Melrose Blvd at 13:00pm

The artists

The day will see a host of entertainers performing for the crowds, with the headline act being none other than Toya Delazy.

Other performers include Graeme Watkins, Justine De Queer, Zacharite and Darker Than White.

The DJ line up will feature Olwee, Leandro, Mrizzie, Roy Stilliano, Puggy, DJ Tinkz, Darker Than White and Biskit. Thabo Bluebird will be the MC for Pride.

Remember that…

No cooler boxes, food or drinks will be allowed into the Pride area. Food and drink will be on sale.

Entrance is free.

The parade starts at 13h00 (see route below).

The official Johannesburg Pride afterparty is at Babylon – The Joburg Bar (Illovo Muse Centre, 198 Oxford Rd, 2196 Sandton, Gauteng) and runs from 20h00 – 04h00.

Please note that the planned Pride of Africa Concert will no longer take place due to lack of interest.
